Sockeye salmon roe (ikura), Alaska. Hand-sorted, individually intact eggs. Natural bright red-orange colour from dietary astaxanthin. Salt-cured only — no artificial colour, MSG, or preservatives.
Wild-caught, Alaska. Ingredients: salmon roe, salt. No artificial colourants, preservatives, or MSG. Non-pasteurised — requires freezing for storage.
Roe harvesting is part of the established Alaska salmon harvest. Collection does not require additional fishing effort — roe is recovered from fish already caught under existing quota. No third-party Fairtrade certification.
Salmon roe colour is natural astaxanthin from the fish's diet, not added colouring — a distinction from some processed roe products that use artificial dye to standardise colour. 'Ikura' is the Japanese culinary term for salmon roe, used here as a descriptor. Salt is the only additive; product is not cured with nitrates.
